The cosponsor app that lets everyone participate in sponsoring any bill in the House of Representatives now actually works on Facebook. Eric Cantor launched Cosponsor.gov on Tuesday which is a Facebook based website and app. This allows the users to mark their support and for tracking legislation in the House.
According to reports from Mashable, Cantor’s office first introduced a version of an app over a year ago that worked with a handful of bills which were mostly introduced by the Republicans. However, the new Cosponsor.gov works with any bill regardless of political genesis.
Mashable adds “The launch of Cosponsor.gov is a sweeping expansion of our Citizen Cosponsor Project.” In a statement, Cantor said, “The new website will now feature every bill and resolution introduced in the House, from Republicans and Democrats. I’m excited that any engaged citizen can voice their support, and track the status of legislation in the House.”
Now how does it work, when a user shows support for a bill, it’s updated via Facebook notifications. The best feature of this new website is its accessibility and simplicity. You can search by title, sponsor, bill number or browse areas of interest and the tracker shows you exactly where the bill stands.
